Terekeka Site Visit by The University of Juba Senior Management Team

The University of Juba Senior Management Team, led by Vice Chancellor Prof. Robert Mayom Deng, recently conducted its inaugural site visit to Terekeka County to explore the possibility of establishing a School of Fisheries. During the visit, Hon. Eng. George Wani Elia warmly welcomed the team and reiterated his commitment to supporting the University’s endeavor. He mentioned a letter received in 2023 requesting land for the construction of the school and discussed the matter with local community leaders to secure the required land allocation.

Chief Santino Koka Wani of Jor-Yari Boma expressed great excitement and appreciation on behalf of the elders of Yari Boma for the proposed construction by the University of Juba, highlighting its potential as a significant development for Terekeka County.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Robert Mayom Deng expressed heartfelt gratitude for the warm reception from Hon. Eng. Elia, the Commissioner of Terekeka, Chiefs, Elders of Jor-yari Boma, and the Terekeka Community. He emphasized the crucial support of the community in granting the land for the School of Fisheries, emphasizing the extensive benefits this initiative would offer to the University and the surrounding communities in Terekeka and South Sudan.

Prof. Deng also mentioned that the purpose of the visit was to inspect the land, in collaboration with the Dean of the School of Natural Resources & Environmental Studies, the Head of the Department of Fisheries, and some engineers, before commencing any development. He expressed great enthusiasm to begin the development of the land in the near future.
