Administrative Structure

The Centre, though collaborating with Various Schools of the University of Juba, has an administrative structure composing of the Director, Deputy Director, Registrar, Academic Coordinators of Representative schools and Account Unit.

Background

The idea to establish a Centre for Human Resource Development and Continual Education is inspired by the University of Juba motto “Relevance and Excellence”. The motto is embedded in the university educational philosophy, which aims at effectively integrating academic excellence with the needs of ordinary people and their relevant communal and/or vocational institution. Relevance is to be achieved through strong emphasis on practical training and retraining of human manpower at local regional and National levels in both public and private sectors.

The CHRDCE is another step taken by the University of Juba towards community activities. The Centre is governed by a statute passed by the university senate in its meeting No. 185 held on 19th January 2000; followed by the University Council approval on the 30th May 2000.

The overall goal of the Centre is to broaden the University promotion of human resource development through practical and vocational training programmes. These programmes are targeting productive manpower potentially involved in various economic activities and services needed by the community. In order to achieve its objectives, the Centre collaborates with various schools of the University of Juba.

Objectives
  • To participate in collaboration with the University Schools and other relevant units in the promotion of human resource development in various fields through educational and training programmes leading to award of undergraduate Diploma certificates.
  • To utilize the actual and /or potential university resources and facilities in order to reduce costs in overall university educational programmes
  • To respond practically to the pressing needs for trained and skilled manpower by both public and private sectors at all levels, regional and national levels through on-job programmes.
  • To widen educational and training opportunities for qualified secondary school candidates.

Academic Programmes

The Centre for Human Resource Development and Continual Education offers three years undergraduate technical Diplomas in nine specializations (Academic programmes) of the different schools of the University as tabulated hereunder. Additionally, the Centre envision to broaden its academic training through provisions of Short-Technical courses as dictated by labor markets in South Sudan and the Region.

Admission to all these programmes follow the National Procedures. Thus, there are National Intake through the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology and Direct Intake through the University of Juba.
