Mayardit Academy for Space Sciences at the University of Juba, in collaboration with Israel’s Embassy in South Sudan, conducted a one-day seminar on Israel’s Space Science.

On June 25, 2024, the Mayardit Academy for Space Sciences at the University of Juba, in collaboration with Israel’s Embassy in South Sudan, conducted a one-day seminar on Israel’s Space Science. The seminar centered around the theme “Sharing Experiences and Best Practices with South Sudan.”

The distinguished guests in attendance included the Ambassador of Israel to South Sudan, the former South Sudan Ambassador to Israel now serving as the media spokesperson for the South Sudan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Director General of the South Sudan National Communication Authority (NCA), Eng. Napolean Adok. N. Gai, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Juba, Prof. Robert Mayom K. Deng, and the former VC of the University of Juba, who also serves as the Director of the Mayardit Academy of Space Sciences. Additionally, senior staff of the University and students from various schools enriched the seminar with their presence.

The seminar commenced with an opening address by Prof. John A. Akec, the Director of the Mayardit Academy of Space Sciences, who introduced the audience to the vision and mission of the academy.

The seminar was delivered by Harel Hary Ben-Amin, an experienced professional who previously served as the Israel Space Agency (ISA) delegate for Committees in the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs. Mr. Ben-Amin is the Founder and Director of Hsa-Space Science Projects & Investments (has-israel.com) and holds a position as a lecturer at Herzog Academic College.

During his presentation, Mr. Ben-Amin discussed Israel’s space sciences, addressing strategies for South Sudan to develop its space program and inspire future astronauts through educational programs aimed at exposing students and high school students to the field of space sciences.
