On January 12th, 2022 the Engineering Oversight Committee headed by the Acting Vice Chancellor Prof. Robert Deng opened the renovated structure of the School of Computer Science. In attendance were the registrar for Administration and Finance, Dr. Bojoi Moses Tomor, and Dr. James Osuru Mark, Dean, School of Computer Science and Information Technology, Eng. Alemseghed Ghebrekidan, Eng. Amos Arier Ater, and other staff of the Directorate of Engineering, University of Juba.
The renovated structure has one lecture hall, two computer labs, 4 offices and one washroom. Electricity and Air conditionings are all fixed as well.
University of Juba established the Computer Studies Centre (CSC) in July 1996. In accordance with the resolution of the Senate and the authorization of University of Juba Council (Statute number 15). The Centre was opened with the latest technical specifications and its main aim was to meet the practical requirement for short and intermediate Computer Skills training courses for government and private institutions as well as individual applicants. Following the increase in the demand for computer graduates, the Centre was upgraded in April 2009 to a full College of Computer Science and Information Technology (CCSIT) offering two Bachelor of Science degree programs (5 years) in either Computer Science or Information Technology
The School of Computer Science and Information Technology strives to prepare highly qualified professionals and academicians for efficient contribution to edification of knowledge society and to achieve the country development goals through fostering and academic environment ideal for development of knowledge, research, innovation, and life-long, facilitate in transforming South Sudan into knowledge base economy, and prepare to tackle complex problems facing the nation, region and the world.
