University of Juba Signs MoU with Empower Swiss SARL

On September 6, 2021, Prof. John A. Akec on behalf of University of Juba signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Prof. Paul S. Laivani of Empower Swiss SARL.

The purpose of this agreement is to establish the understanding between the two parties (University of Juba and Empower Swiss SARL) to jointly explore the partnership in the area of capacity building and change management for supply chain, LMIS activities and other areas of mutual interests.

University of Juba is a Public University located in Juba, South Sudan, founded in 1975 in response to the need for higher education in Southern areas of Sudan. Due to the Second Sudanese Civil War (1983 – 2005), the University relocated to Khartoum, for safety of staff, students and infrastructure.

First colleges include: Education, Economics, Medicine, Natural Resources and Environmental Studies and Medicine by 1982. The University gives instruction in the English language. Student population is about 24,000 and 150 programs. We have 17 schools, 3 institutes, 4 centers and Graduate College, Preparatory College, and Kuajok Community College (off the Campus). We are based in Juba downtown, the beautiful and cosmopolitan capital of South Sudan. The University of Juba aims to become a dynamic regional and world-class Centre of excellence in teaching, research, innovation, and service to the community by 2030.

Empower Swiss SARL is a global health academic, research and consulting institute which works with a vision to empower lives by promoting universal access to health and education.

The school offers;

1. Health systems strengthening with a focus on public health, access to quality medicines and procurement and supply chain management.
2. Research and technical assistance in the areas of supply chain and public health.
3. Digital scalable capacity building of health professionals by conducting training programs through classrooms training and online courses.
4. Public health leadership and change management.

This MoU will also provide online Post Graduate Diploma, Diploma and Certificate in Global Health Procurement and Supply Chain Management that is, Masters in Science (MSc) in Global Health Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Post Graduate Diploma in Global Health Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Diploma in Global Health Procurement and Supply Chain and Certificate Courses offered by Empower School of Health
