H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit Presides over the 23rd University of Juba Convocation

On the 19th June 2021, the University of Juba graduated over 1,756 students in various levels, among whom include 304 females and 1452 males; 685 awarded with Diplomas, 751 Bachelor degrees, 41 Postgraduate Diplomas, 256 Master degrees and 16 PhD degrees. The graduation ceremony was held at the Western Campus (Customs Campus).

The graduation was presided over by the Chancellor of University of Juba, H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit. In his speech, he advised the Graduands to use the knowledge they acquired creatively to realize opportunities for themselves. He said that he will work with the concerned ministries and make sure the government consider a merit-based recruitment policy regarding employment.

“The government will consider a merit-based recruitment policy regarding employment in the public sector. This policy will target young graduates from our Universities for employment in the public sector, and I will work with the concerned Ministries to ensure that they develop these recruitment policies.”  President Kiir emphasized.

H.E. President Salva Kiir pledged to the University of Juba to construct one lectures hall, one laboratory for the department of Civil Engineering, School of Engineering and Architecture, and to asphalt the internal roads of the Main campus of the University of Juba.

The Vice Chancellor of University of Juba, Prof John A. Akec thanked H.E. General Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan, and Chancellor of the University of Juba for honoring the University’s invitation,

“I want to give very special thanks to H.E. General Salva Kiir Mayardit, the President of the Republic of South Sudan, and Chancellor of the University of Juba for honoring us with his presence, and allow me your Excellency, to say that the Graduands of Class 2021, like those before them, are blessed by your presence. We are humbled and grateful for your unwavering support.” Vice Chancellor Prof. Akec

Prof. Akec also acknowledged and thanked Hon. Gabriel Changson Chang, the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology for his leadership, and his presence, Dr. Manase Lomole Waya, the Chairman of University of Juba Council, for his unwavering support to the University Administration, and his wise counsel, and the parents of the Graduands for supporting their children throughout their academic journey.
